Kanthal erweitert seine Produktionskapazität in Japan, um der Nachfrage nach nachhaltigen Heizlösungen gerecht zu werden

(WK-intern) – Heutzutage verzeichnen Branchen wie Lithium-Ionen-Batterien, Halbleiter und Automobil eine starke Nachfrage nach nachhaltigen Heizlösungen, die ihnen dabei helfen, eine höhere Effizienz zu erreichen und ihre Dekarbonisierungsziele zu erreichen.

Um den gestiegenen Bedarf zu decken, wird Kanthal seine Produktionskapazität in Sakura, Japan, erweitern, eine Investition von etwa 100 Millionen SEK. Ziel ist es, mittel- und langfristiges Marktwachstum in Asien zu erschließen.

Am Kanthal-Produktionsstandort in Sakura, Japan, fertigt das Unternehmen Produkte zur Elektrifizierung industrieller Heizprozesse.

Das starke globale Wachstum bei Lithium-Ionen-Batterien und Halbleitern ist ein Treiber für eine erhöhte Nachfrage nach nachhaltigen Heizlösungen von Kanthal. Darüber hinaus streben zahlreiche Branchen wie die Stahl- und die Automobilbranche danach, ihre Heizprozesse von fossilen Brennstoffen auf elektrische Lösungen umzustellen, um ihre Produktion energieeffizienter zu gestalten und gleichzeitig ihre CO2-Emissionen zu senken.

Die Gesamtinvestition beläuft sich zwischen 2024 und 2025 auf etwa 100 Millionen SEK und umfasst die Entwicklung einer neuen Anlage in der Nähe des derzeitigen Standorts in Sakura sowie neue Ausrüstung und ein neues Layout. Die Erweiterung wird voraussichtlich Ende 2025 vollständig betriebsbereit sein, die derzeitige Produktionskapazität um etwa 60 % erhöhen und zusätzliche Beschäftigungsmöglichkeiten schaffen.

Die Investition wird weiterhin eine starke lokale Präsenz gewährleisten und die Produktionskapazität, Lieferzeiten und Wartungsfreundlichkeit verbessern.

Im vergangenen Jahr erfolgten Erweiterungen in Walldorf, Deutschland; Perth, Schottland; und Concord, USA; wurden angekündigt. Diese Investition ist ein weiteres Beispiel dafür, wie Kanthal seine Produktionskapazität erweitert, um der Nachfrage gerecht zu werden.

Kanthal expands its production capacity in Japan to meet demand for sustainable heating solutions

Today industries such as lithium-ion battery, semiconductor and automotive show a strong demand for sustainable heating solutions to help them achieve higher efficiency and reach their decarbonization targets. To meet the increased need, Kanthal will expand its production capacity in Sakura, Japan, an investment of approximately SEK 100 million. The aim is to capture mid- and long-term market growth in Asia.

The strong global growth in lithium-ion batteries and semiconductors is a driver for an increased demand for Kanthal’s sustainable heating solutions. In addition, a broad range of industries, such as steel and automotive, are looking to convert their heating processes from fossil fuel to electric solutions, making their production more energy efficient whilst also lowering their CO2 emissions.

The total investment is approximately SEK 100 million between 2024 and 2025 and includes the development of a new facility near the current premises in Sakura, as well as new equipment and a new layout. The expansion is expected to be fully operational in the end of 2025, increasing the current production capacity by approximately 60% and enabling additional job opportunities.

The investment will continue to ensure a strong local presence, improving manufacturing capacity, lead times and serviceability.

During the past year, expansions in Walldorf, Germany; Perth, Scotland; and Concord, USA; have been announced. This investment is another example of how Kanthal expands its production capacity to meet demand.
