Van Oord erhält Auftrag für Offshore-Windprojekt Nordseecluster

(WK-intern) – Rotterdam, Niederlande – Van Oord hat von RWE den Auftrag für den Transport und die Installation der Monopile-Fundamente für das Offshore-Windprojekt Nordseecluster in Deutschland erhalten.

Der 1,6-GW-Windpark-Cluster soll genug erneuerbare Energie erzeugen, um 1.600.000 deutsche Haushalte zu versorgen.

Dieser Projektauftrag ist ein wichtiger Meilenstein für Van Oord, da es das erste Projekt für das brandneue Offshore-Installationsschiff Boreas sein wird, das sich derzeit im Bau befindet. Der Auftrag von Van Oord umfasst die Installation von 104 verlängerten Monopiles sowie die Installation des Kolkschutzes. Im Jahr 2025 sollen 44 Monopiles installiert werden und die restlichen 60 Monopiles im Jahr 2027.

Die Boreas wird das größte Offshore-Installationsschiff seiner Art sein und speziell für den Transport und die Installation der nächsten Generation von Fundamenten und Turbinen für Offshore-Windparks gebaut. Das Hubschiff mit einer Krankapazität von mehr als 3.000 Tonnen kann bis zu 20 MW Windturbinen auf See installieren. Es kann vollständig mit Methanol betrieben werden und reduziert so seinen CO2-Fußabdruck drastisch. Grünes Methanol ist einer der vielversprechendsten Kraftstoffe der Zukunft, da es ausschließlich aus erneuerbaren Energiequellen hergestellt wird. So kann es den CO2-Fußabdruck von Boreas um mehr als 78 % reduzieren. Dies steht im Einklang mit Van Oords Ziel, die Emissionen zu reduzieren und bis 2050 Netto-Null-Emissionen zu erreichen.

Van Oord wins contract for Nordseecluster offshore wind project

Rotterdam, The Netherlands – Van Oord has been awarded the contract for the transport and installation of the monopile foundations for the Nordseecluster offshore wind project in Germany by RWE. The 1.6 GW wind farm cluster is expected to generate enough renewable energy to supply the equivalent of 1,600,000 German households.

This project award is a major milestone for Van Oord because it will be the first project for the brand-new offshore installation vessel Boreas, which is currently under construction. Van Oord’s scope includes the installation of 104 extended monopiles as well as the installation of the scour protection. In 2025, 44 monopiles are planned for installation in 2025 and the remaining 60 monopiles in 2027.

The Boreas will be the largest offshore installation vessel of its kind, purpose-built for the transport and installation of the next generation foundations and turbines for offshore wind farms. The jack-up vessel, with a crane capacity of more than 3,000 tonnes, can install up to 20 MW wind turbines at sea. It has the capability to fully operate on methanol, drastically reducing its carbon footprint. Green methanol is one of the most promising future fuels as it is produced using only renewable energy sources. As such, it can reduce the carbon footprint of Boreas by more than 78%. This is in line with Van Oord’s ambition to reduce emissions and to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
