Ocean Winds (OW), das Offshore-Wind-Joint-Venture von EDPR und ENGIE, gibt die offizielle Gründung von OW Brasil bekannt, seinem hundertprozentigen brasilianischen Unternehmen (zuvor „Ventos de Atlântico“).

(WK-intern) – OW zielt auf Offshore-Windkapazitäten ab, indem es Genehmigungen bei IBAMA für Projekte in den Bundesstaaten Rio de Janeiro, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte und Rio Grande do Sul durchläuft.

Brasilien. Ocean Winds, das 50:50-Joint-Venture zwischen den globalen Energieführern ENGIE und EDP Renewables, das sich der Offshore-Windenergie verschrieben hat, gibt die Gründung von OW Brasil bekannt, einem brasilianischen Unternehmen, das sich zu 100% im Besitz des Unternehmens befindet und an Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten für Offshore-Windprojekte im Land arbeitet.

Hochinteressiert an dem unglaublichen Potenzial von 700 GW für Offshore-Wind in Brasilien (laut einer Studie des Energieforschungsunternehmens EPE) begann OW im Dezember 2020 mit der Lizenzierung von fünf neuen Offshore-Windprojekten mit einer Gesamtkapazität von 15 GW in den Bundesstaaten Brasilien Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio de Janeiro und Rio Grande do Sul.

Bautista Rodríguez, CEO von OW Ocean Winds, sagte: „Mit einem 11,2-GW-Portfolio an Projekten in sieben Ländern hat sich OW als Pionier und Marktführer im Offshore-Windsektor positioniert und beabsichtigt, seine Präsenz auszubauen. Zur Bedeutung dieser Offshore-Windprojekte für Brasilien sagte Bautista Rodríguez: „Die Entwicklung dieses neuen Tätigkeitssektors in Brasilien ist eine wichtige Gelegenheit, den wachsenden Energiebedarf zu decken, grüne Wasserstoffprojekte zu entwickeln, die Energiematrix zu diversifizieren und damit sicherzustellen die Energiesicherheit des Landes mit einer erneuerbaren Quelle, die im Vergleich zu fossilen Quellen wettbewerbsfähige Kosten für den Verbraucher hat.“

Mit der Unterstützung seiner Sponsoren (ENGIE ist das zweitgrößte privatwirtschaftliche Energieunternehmen in Brasilien und EDPR mit 795 MW installierter Wind- und Solarleistung im Land) strebt OW Genehmigungen für die „Licença Prévia“ (Umweltgenehmigung) an IBAMA für die folgenden Projekte: Vento Tupi (1 GW), Maral (2 GW), Ventos do Atlântico (5 GW), Tramandaí offshore (700 MW) und Ventos do Sul (6,5 GW).

Ocean Winds wird am 14. Juni auf dem GWEC Brazil Offshore Wind Summit vertreten sein.

Angaben zu den zu genehmigenden Projekten:

VENTOS DO SUL: Das mit 6,5 GW größte Offshore-Windprojekt von OW in Brasilien befindet sich im Bundesstaat Rio Grande do Sul. Das Projekt wird in 2 bodenfeste Bereiche und einen schwimmenden aufgeteilt. Insgesamt 6.507 MW Leistung werden mit 458 Turbinen in Gewässern von 20 bis 108 Metern Tiefe erreicht; und wird über dieselben Onshore-Umspannwerke und terrestrischen Übertragungsleitungen verfügen.

VENTOS DO ATLÂNTICO: Dieser Offshore-Windpark mit 5 GW liegt im Bundesstaat Rio de Janeiro, durchschnittlich 39 km von der Küste entfernt. Das Projekt wird in 2 Phasen entwickelt. Die erste Phase sieht 61 Windkraftanlagen mit einer Gesamtkapazität von 837 MW vor. Die zweite Phase sieht 309 Windkraftanlagen mit einer Kapazität von 4.172 MW vor.

MARAL: Das Offshore-Projekt befindet sich 17 km von der Küste entfernt im Bundesstaat Rio Grande do Norte mit einer Kapazität von 2.102 MW, die von 149 Windkraftanlagen mit jeweils 13,5 MW produziert wird.

VENTO TUPI: Offshore-Windprojekt im Bundesstaat Piauí. Die geplante Kapazität beträgt 999 MW mit 74 Windkraftanlagen von jeweils 13,5 MW.

TRAMANDAÍ OFFSHORE: ein 700-MW-Offshore-Projekt im Bundesstaat Rio Grande do Sul. Es befindet sich in der Nähe von Tramandaí, dem Onshore-Windprojekt von EDPR.

OW Brasil officially launched in Brazilian offshore wind market

Ocean Winds (OW), the offshore wind joint-venture between EDPR and ENGIE, announces the official launch of OW Brasil, its fully owned Brazilian company (previously called “Ventos de Atlântico”).

OW is targeting offshore wind capacities through undergoing authorizations at IBAMA, for projects located in Rio de Janeiro, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, and Rio Grande do Sul states.

Highly interested by the incredible potential of 700 GW for offshore wind in Brazil (according to a study by the Energy Research Company EPE), OW started in December 2020 to license five new offshore wind projects for a total capacity of 15 GW in the States of Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio de Janeiro, and Rio Grande do Sul.

Counting with the support of its sponsors (ENGIE being the second largest private-sector power company in Brazil and EDPR with 795 MW of wind and solar installed capacity in the country), OW is seeking authorizations for “Licença Prévia” (Environmental Permit) at IBAMA for the following projects: Vento Tupi (1 GW), Maral (2 GW), Ventos do Atlântico (5 GW), Tramandaí offshore (700 MW), and Ventos do Sul (6.5 GW).

Details of the projects undergoing licensing:

VENTOS DO SUL: OW’s biggest offshore wind project in Brazil with 6.5 GW is located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The project will be split into 2 bottom-fixed areas and one floating. A total of 6,507 MW of capacity will be reached with 458 turbines in waters from 20 to 108 meters depth; and will have the same onshore substation and terrestrial transmission lines.

VENTOS DO ATLÂNTICO: this offshore wind complex of 5 GW is in the Rio de Janeiro state at an average of 39km from the coast. The project will be developed in 2 phases. First phase contemplates 61 wind turbines for a total capacity of 837 MW. Second phase foresees 309 wind turbines for a capacity of 4,172 MW.
