(WK-intern) – Coimbatore, Indien und Big Spring, USA. ZF Wind Power reagiert auf das aktuelle und zukünftige Wachstum im Windmarkt mit einer Kapazitätserweiterung in Indien und einer Servicepartnerschaft in den USA.

Die weltweite Kapazität zur Erzeugung erneuerbaren Stroms wächst schneller als je zuvor und bietet eine echte Chance, das auf der Klimakonferenz COP28 festgelegte Ziel einer Verdreifachung der globalen Kapazität bis 2030 zu erreichen.

Der IEA-Bericht erwartet für den Zeitraum 2023-28 einen erheblichen Anstieg der weltweiten Kapazität für erneuerbare Energien. Solar-PV und Wind machen 95 Prozent des Ausbaus aus, wobei erneuerbare Energien bis Anfang 2025 die größte Quelle der weltweiten Stromerzeugung sein werden. Der Einsatz von Solar-PV und Onshore-Wind soll sich bis 2028 in den Vereinigten Staaten, der Europäischen Union und Indien mehr als verdoppeln , und Brasilien im Vergleich zu den letzten fünf Jahren. Während die Lieferkette der Windenergie vor enormen Herausforderungen steht, verpflichtet sich ZF, gemeinsam mit seinen Partnern wichtige Schritte zu unternehmen, um eine nachhaltige Zukunft zu ermöglichen.

Kapazitätserweiterung um 12 GW, um das Wachstum im Windmarkt zu nutzen
Einer dieser Schritte ist die Erweiterung der Getriebefertigungskapazität des hochmodernen Fertigungswerks von ZF Wind Power in Coimbatore von 9 GW auf 12 GW. Diese Erweiterung trägt dem Wachstum des internationalen Windmarktes Rechnung. ZF investiert sowohl in Produktions- als auch in Testkapazitäten. Mit der Installation eines 13-MW-Prüfstands stärkt ZF seine Position als Entwicklungs- und Validierungspartner. „Der Prüfstand wird Anfang 2025 in Betrieb gehen und wir können alle Systemfunktionen bis 13 MW sowohl unter statischer als auch dynamischer Belastung testen. Dadurch ist es unserem Team möglich, sowohl Serien- als auch Forschungs- und Entwicklungstests durchzuführen“, erklärt Deepak Pohekar, Werksleiter von ZF Wind Power Coimbatore. Das Erweiterungsprojekt wird etwa Mitte 2025 abgeschlossen sein und den aktuellen ausgewogenen und vertikal integrierten Fluss der Anlage unterstützen. Mit einer Kapazitätserweiterung auf insgesamt 12 GW kann das Werk nun Komponenten und Getriebe produzieren, die jährlich die Umstellung von über 10 Millionen Haushalten auf grüne Energie unterstützen. Diese Erweiterung bereitet den indischen Standort auch auf die künftige Komplettmontage von Antriebssträngen vor.

The world’s capacity to generate renewable electricity is expanding faster than ever, giving it a real chance of achieving the goal of tripling global capacity by 2030, set at the COP28 climate change conference. The IEA report expects a major increase in the global renewable power capacity over the 2023-28 period. 12 GW capacity increase to capture the growth in the wind market
One of these steps is the expansion of the gearbox manufacturing capacity of ZF Wind Power’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Coimbatore from 9 GW to 12 GW. This expansion captures the growth in the international wind market. ZF invests in both production and testing capacity. The installation of a 13 MW test rig will strengthen ZF’s position as a partner in development and validation. “The test rig will be in use at the beginning of 2025, and we’ll be able to test all system functions up to 13 MW under both static and dynamic loads. This makes it possible for our team to perform both serial and R&D testing,“ explains Deepak Pohekar, Plant Head of ZF Wind Power Coimbatore. The expansion project will be finished around mid-2025 and will support the plant’s current balanced and vertically integrated flow. With a capacity expansion up to a total of 12 GW, the plant can now produce components and gearboxes supporting the transition of over 10 million households to green energy annually. This extension also prepares the Indian location for future complete powertrain assembly.
