Vestas hat mit Vattenfall und BASF eine bedingte Vereinbarung für die Nordlicht-Projekte in der deutschen Nordsee unterzeichnet

(WK-intern) – Vestas hat eine bedingte Vereinbarung zur Lieferung von 112 V236-15.0 MW-Windturbinen für die Offshore-Windprojekte Nordlicht 1 und 2 von Vattenfall und BASF abgeschlossen, wie bereits in der Unternehmensmitteilung 10/2024 von Vestas vom 13. Juni 2024 mitgeteilt.

Im Rahmen des Vertrags ist außerdem ein 5-jähriger Service- und Garantievertrag abgeschlossen, gefolgt von einem Betriebsunterstützungsvertrag bis zum 30. Jahr.

Die Unternehmen unterstreichen außerdem ihre Ambitionen, ihre CO2e-Emissionen entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette zu reduzieren. Die oberen Abschnitte von 56 von 112 Türmen werden aus emissionsarmem Stahl hergestellt, was 24 Prozent der Masse der für den Windparkbereich verwendeten schweren Stahlplatten ausmacht und zu einer Reduzierung des gesamten CO2-Fußabdrucks der Türme um 16 Prozent führt.

Der emissionsarme Stahl wird aus 100 Prozent Stahlschrott hergestellt, der in einem Lichtbogenofen geschmolzen wird, der zu 100 Prozent mit Windenergie betrieben wird. Dadurch wird der CO2-Fußabdruck im Vergleich zu schweren Stahlplatten, die auf konventionellem Wege hergestellt werden, um 66 Prozent reduziert.

Das Windparkgebiet Nordlicht liegt 85 Kilometer nördlich vor der Insel Borkum in der deutschen Nordsee und besteht aus zwei separaten Standorten: Nordlicht 1 und Nordlicht 2. Nach der vollständigen Inbetriebnahme wird eine Stromproduktion von insgesamt rund 6 Terawattstunden (TWh) pro Jahr erwartet, was dem Stromverbrauch von 1,6 Millionen deutschen Haushalten entspricht.

Der Bau von Nordlicht 1 und 2 soll 2026 beginnen. Nach aktuellem Planungsstand sollen die Windkraftanlagen 2027 (Nordlicht 1) und 2028 (Nordlicht 2) installiert werden. Die Windparks werden voraussichtlich 2028 vollständig in Betrieb gehen.

Sollte die Vereinbarung mit Vattenfall und BASF zu festen und bedingungslosen Aufträgen für Vestas führen, wird das Unternehmen diese gemäß seiner Offenlegungsrichtlinie bekannt geben.

Vestas has signed conditional agreement with Vattenfall and BASF for the Nordlicht projects in the German Northsea

Vestas has secured a conditional agreement to supply 112 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines for Vattenfall’s and BASF’s Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind projects, as already communicated in Vestas’ Company Announcement 10/2024 of 13 June 2024. Within the scope of the contract is furthermore a 5-year service and warranty agreement followed by an operational support agreement until year 30.

The companies are also underlining their ambitions to reduce their CO2e emissions along the entire value chain. The top sections of 56 out of 112 towers will be made with low-emission steel, accounting for 24 percent of the mass of the heavy steel plates used for the wind farm area and leading to a 16 percent reduction in the towers’ overall carbon footprint.

The low-emission steel is fabricated using 100 percent steel scrap melted in an electric arc furnace powered by 100 percent wind energy, reducing the carbon footprint by 66 percent compared to heavy steel plates made via a conventional steelmaking route.

The Nordlicht wind farm area is located 85 kilometres north off the island of Borkum in the German North Sea and consists of two separate locations: Nordlicht 1 and Nordlicht 2. Once fully operational, electricity production is expected to total around 6 terawatt hours (TWh) per year, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of 1.6 million German households.

The construction of Nordlicht 1 and 2 is scheduled to start in 2026. According to the current state of planning, the wind turbines are to be installed in 2027 (Nordlicht 1) and 2028 (Nordlicht 2). The wind farms are expected to be fully operational in 2028.

If and when the agreement with Vattenfall and BASF materialises in firm and unconditional orders for Vestas, the company will disclose these in accordance with its disclosure policy.
