Greenport Scandinavia, eine Projektpartnerschaft bestehend aus INEOS Energy, Wintershall Dea, Evida, Biocarb Solution, Hirtshals Havn, Aalborg Portland, Greenport North, EUC Nord, Hydrogen Valley und Energy Cluster Denmark, erhält von Just einen Zuschuss in Höhe von 14,6 Millionen Euro Transition Fund zur Unterstützung des Aufbaus von Wertschöpfungsketten zur CO2-Abscheidung, -Nutzung und -Speicherung (CCUS).

(WK-intern) – Greenport Scandinavia ist eines der ehrgeizigsten CCUS-Projekte (Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage) in Nordeuropa.

Die Höhe des Zuschusses unterstreicht die entscheidende Bedeutung des Projekts für die dänischen und europäischen Ziele, Netto-Null-Emissionen zu erreichen.

Das Ziel besteht darin, den Hafen von Hirtshals zu einem Knotenpunkt für den Empfang erheblicher Mengen CO2 aus Dänemark und dem Ausland zur Zwischenspeicherung und anschließenden Verschiffung in das Greensand-Gebiet im dänischen Teil der Nordsee zur dauerhaften Speicherung sowie zur küstennahen Speicherung zu entwickeln und Onshore-Speicher in Norddänemark.

Zur Zuweisung von 14,6 Millionen Euro an Greenport Scandinavia erklärt der dänische Minister für Industrie, Wirtschaft und Finanzen, Morten Bødskov: „Grüne Technologien spielen eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Verwirklichung des grünen Wandels. Die Speicherung von CO2 ist ein wesentlicher Teil der Lösung.“ um das ehrgeizige Ziel der Regierung der Klimaneutralität bis 2045 zu erreichen.

Nordjütland ist bereits auf dem besten Weg, ein attraktiver Markt für Investitionen in die Abscheidung, Nutzung und Speicherung von CO2 zu werden. Ich freue mich darauf, mehr über die neuen Projekte in zu erfahren Dies trägt zur Sicherung lokaler Arbeitsplätze bei und bietet gleichzeitig erhebliche Wachstumschancen für den Rest der Gesellschaft. Ehrgeizige Initiativen wie Greenport Scandinavia spielen eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Stärkung des starken Ansehens Dänemarks und garantieren unsere Führungsrolle beim laufenden und zukünftigen grünen Wandel.

Das Projekt zielt darauf ab, ab 2025/26 jährliche Transporte von bis zu 500.000 Tonnen CO2 aus Biogasanlagen in Nordjütland zu etablieren. Mit der Implementierung der CO2-Rohrinfrastruktur wird erwartet, dass das potenzielle Volumen ab 2029 auf etwa 3.000.000 Tonnen CO2 jährlich ansteigt und 15.000.000 Tonnen übersteigt, wenn dänische und nordeuropäische Infrastrukturen Anfang der 2030er Jahre verbunden werden.

Greenport Scandinavia wurde im Dezember 2022 mit dem Ziel ins Leben gerufen, das Ziel der Europäischen Kommission zu verwirklichen, die Treibhausgasemissionen bis 2030 um mindestens 55 % zu reduzieren und Europa bis spätestens 2050 klimaneutral zu machen. CO2-Abscheidung und -Speicherung sind wichtige Mittel zur Erreichung dieser Ziele, da sie nicht allein durch die Reduzierung der CO2-Emissionen erreicht werden können.

Der Zuschuss aus dem Just Transition Fund ist ein wesentlicher Beitrag zu den Bemühungen, das Ziel von Greenport Scandinavia zu verwirklichen, im Hafen von Hirtshals den größten CO2-Hub Nordeuropas zu errichten.

€14,6 million grant for Northern Europe’s largest CO2 hub in the Port of Hirtshals

Greenport Scandinavia, a project partnership consisting of INEOS Energy, Wintershall Dea, Evida, Biocarb Solution, Hirtshals Havn, Aalborg Portland, Greenport North, EUC Nord, Hydrogen Valley and Energy Cluster Denmark, is awarded a € 14,6 million grant from the Just Transition Fund to support the establishment of value chains for CO2 capture, usage and storage (CCUS).

Greenport Scandinavia is one of the most ambitious Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) projects in Northern Europe. The size of the grant underlines the project’s crucial importance for both the Danish and European goals of achieving Net Zero Emissions.

The ambition is for the Port of Hirtshals to develop into a hub for receiving significant amounts of CO2 from both Denmark and abroad for intermediate storage and subsequent shipping to the Greensand area in the Danish part of the North Sea for permanent storage, as well as nearshore and onshore storages in North Denmark.

On the allocation of €14,6 million to Greenport Scandinavia, Danish Minister of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Morten Bødskov states: „Green technologies play a crucial role in achieving the green transition. Storage of CO2 is a significant part of the solution to meet the government’s ambitious goal of climate neutrality by 2045. North Jutland is already well on its way to becoming an attractive market for investments in the capture, utilization, and storage of CO2. I look forward to learning more about the new projects in the pipeline. This contributes to securing local jobs while providing substantial growth opportunities for the rest of society. Ambitious initiatives such as Greenport Scandinavia play a pivotal role in fortifying Denmark’s robust standing, guaranteeing our leadership in the ongoing and future green transition.

The project aims to establish annual shipments of up to 500.000 tonnes of CO2 from biogas plants in Northern Jutland starting from 2025/26. With the implementation of CO2 pipe infrastructure, the potential volume is expected to increase to ~3.000.000 tonnes of CO2 annually from 2029 and to exceed 15.000.000 tonnes if Danish and Northern European infrastructures are connected in the early 2030s.
Greenport Scandinavia was launched in December 2022 with the objective of realizing the European Commission’s objective to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 and make Europe climate neutral by 2050 at the latest. CO2 capture and storage are important means to achieve these goals, as they cannot be attained solely by reducing CO2 emissions.

The grant from the Just Transition Fund is a significant contribution to the efforts to realize Greenport Scandinavia’s ambition to establish the largest CO2-hub in Northern Europe in Port of Hirtshals.
