Nor-Shipping startet eine neue Initiative, um die Pipeline neuer Talente zu stärken und zu unterstützen, die in die Welt des See- und Ozeangeschäfts eintreten.

(WK-intern) – Der getaufte Ocean Campus, die spezielle „Insel“ aus Ausstellungsständen, wird die weltweit führenden maritimen Universitäten und Hochschulen präsentieren, die Möglichkeiten für potenzielle Studenten hervorheben und gleichzeitig daran arbeiten, die Lücke zwischen Arbeitgebern und den Talenten von morgen zu schließen.

Die World Maritime University (WMU) in Schweden, das Exzellenzzentrum der IMO für postgraduale Ausbildung, ist der Hauptpartner des Ocean Campus sowohl für die diesjährige Veranstaltung, die vom 6. bis 9. Juni stattfindet, als auch für Nor-Shipping 2025.

Grundlegende Entwicklung

Sidsel Norvik, Direktorin von Nor-Shipping, sagt, die Notwendigkeit einer solch mutigen Initiative sei „glasklar“.

Norvik kommentiert: „Um ein intelligentes, erfolgreiches und nachhaltiges Geschäft im Meeresraum zu entwickeln, muss die Industrie die klügsten Talente an Bord holen. Die Wachstumsmöglichkeiten – sowohl individuell als auch kommerziell – sind immens, aber wir müssen die besten Grundlagen schaffen, um dies zu ermöglichen. Wir glauben, dass der Ocean Campus ein Eckpfeiler sein kann.“

Sie erklärt: „Die Initiative arbeitet daran, unsere wichtigsten Bildungseinrichtungen bei Studenten bekannt zu machen und sie gleichzeitig auf das enorme Potenzial einer Karriere im Meeresraum aufmerksam zu machen. Es kann auch dazu beitragen, Verbindungen zwischen diesen Institutionen und Arbeitgebern herzustellen und einen Talentstrom zu erschließen, der allen zugute kommt, einschließlich der breiteren Gesellschaft. Wir sind begeistert von dem Potenzial hier und freuen uns, einen Partner der World Maritime University für die Zukunft zu haben.“

Maßgeschneidert für Talente

Die Ocean Campus-Insel liegt zentral in Halle E neben der beliebten Blue Talks-Bühne. Vertreter der ausstellenden Schulen werden ein „Ocean Campus Committee“ bilden, das mit Branchenexperten zusammenarbeitet, um ein Programm für Freitag, den 9. Juni, den Haupttag des Ocean Campus, zu erstellen. An diesem Tag besuchen Tausende von Studenten und jungen Menschen Nor-Shipping (Studenten können die ganze Woche über kostenlose Eintrittskarten nutzen), um herauszufinden, wie sie eine Zukunft im Ozeanraum planen können. Auf der angrenzenden Bühne finden den ganzen Tag Vorträge, Präsentationen und Debatten statt.

Zu den weiteren bestätigten Campus-Teilnehmern neben der WMU gehören die Norwegische Universität für Wissenschaft und Technologie (NTNU), die BI Norwegian Business School, die UiT Arctic University of Norway, das MLA College, Oslo MET und SINTEF Ocean. Norvik stellt fest, dass die Initiative „die perfekte Ergänzung“ zum Hauptthema von Nor-Shipping 2023, #PartnerShip, ist.

Starke Partner

Nor-Shipping findet vom 6. bis 9. Juni statt und bringt die globale Schifffahrts- und Ozeanindustrie an Veranstaltungsorten in Oslo und Lillestrøm zusammen.

Nor-Shipping launches Ocean Campus in partnership with World Maritime University

Nor-Shipping is launching a fresh initiative to strengthen and support the pipeline of new talent entering the world of maritime and ocean business.

Christened Ocean Campus, the dedicated ‘island’ of exhibition booths will showcase the world’s leading maritime universities and colleges, highlighting opportunities for potential students, while working to bridge the gap between employers and the talent of tomorrow. The World Maritime University (WMU) in Sweden, the IMO’s centre of excellence for postgraduate education, is the main Ocean Campus partner for both this year’s event, running from 6-9 June, and Nor-Shipping 2025.

Cornerstone development

Sidsel Norvik, Director, Nor-Shipping, says the need for such a bold initiative is “crystal clear”.

Norvik comments: “To develop smart, successful and sustainable business within the ocean space, industry has to bring the brightest talent onboard. The opportunities for growth – both individual and commercial – are immense, but we need to build the best foundations to facilitate that. We believe Ocean Campus can be a cornerstone.”

She explains: “The initiative works to promote our key educational establishments to students, while also alerting them to the huge potential of a career in the ocean space. It can also help establish links between these institutions and employers, opening up a talent stream that benefits everybody, including broader society. We’re excited about the potential here, and thrilled to have a partner of the World Maritime University’s standing in place for the future.”

Tailored for talent

The Ocean Campus island is centrally located within Hall E next to the popular Blue Talks stage. Representatives from the exhibiting schools will form an “Ocean Campus Committee”, working together with industry experts to tailor a programme for Friday June 9, the main Ocean Campus day. This day sees thousands of students and young people visiting Nor-Shipping (students can take advantage of free tickets all week) to discover how they can chart a future in the ocean space. Talks, presentations and debates will run on the adjacent stage throughout the day.

Alongside WMU, further confirmed campus participants include the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), BI Norwegian Business School, UiT Arctic University of Norway, MLA College, Oslo MET and SINTEF Ocean. Norvik notes that the initiative is “the perfect fit” with Nor-Shipping 2023’s main theme of #PartnerShip.

Nor-Shipping runs from 6-9 June, bringing the global maritime and ocean industries together at venues across Oslo and Lillestrøm.
