Salamander, ein Joint Venture zwischen Ørsted, der Simply Blue Group und Subsea7, freut sich, dass ihm im Rahmen der Leasingrunde Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) von Crown Estate Scotland eine Exklusivitätsvereinbarung angeboten wurde.

(WK-intern) – Das schwimmende 100-MW-Offshore-Windprojekt Salamander, das sich 35 km vor der Küste von Peterhead im Nordosten Schottlands befindet, soll Schottland und seiner Lieferkette eine frühe Gelegenheit bieten, schwimmende Offshore-Windenergie vor dem größeren Ausbau von ScotWind bereitzustellen.

Da in Schottland und Großbritannien in den nächsten zehn Jahren Gigawatt an schwimmendem Windausbau erwartet werden, wird Salamander ein wertvolles Sprungbrett sein, um sicherzustellen, dass lokale Lieferketten bereit und in der Lage sind, diese Gelegenheit voll auszuschöpfen.

Salamander wird ein Paket innovativer Technologien im kommerziellen Maßstab demonstrieren und sie für die Einführung in Projekten im Versorgungsmaßstab wie den ScotWind-Leases vorbereiten. Diese Technologien werden von entscheidender Bedeutung sein, um sicherzustellen, dass schwimmende Offshore-Windenergie verfügbar und für die Verbraucher erschwinglich ist und einen Mehrwert für die lokale Industrie und das Geschäft schafft.

Die INTOG-Runde wurde in zwei Töpfe aufgeteilt – einen für kleinere Innovationsprojekte von 100 MW oder weniger und einen für größere Projekte im Zusammenhang mit der Öl- und Gasinfrastruktur. Salamander war auf dem Weg der Innovation erfolgreich.

Huw Bell, Salamander-Projektleiter, sagte: „Diese Gelegenheit durch INTOG wird es uns ermöglichen, das Projekt voranzutreiben, das eine bedeutende Rolle dabei spielen wird, wie die Branche in Zukunft schwimmende Winde liefert, und der schottischen Lieferkette helfen wird, die Aktivitäten für die Einheimischen zu steigern und internationalen Markt. Die Risikominderung schwimmender Windtechnologien für zukünftige kommerzielle Projekte wird es Schottland ermöglichen, den finanziellen Nutzen seiner starken Offshore-Windressourcen zu maximieren und langfristige Arbeitsplätze für lokale Gemeinden zu schaffen.“

Salamander wird derzeit einer Umweltverträglichkeitsprüfung (UVP) unterzogen. Das Projekt hat seinen UVP-Scoping-Bericht bei Marine Scotland und Aberdeenshire Council eingereicht, die ihn nun an gesetzliche und nicht gesetzlich vorgeschriebene Berater zur Prüfung und Stellungnahme zum vorgeschlagenen Projekt und Umfang der UVP weitergeleitet haben. Das Projekt hat einen Netzanschlussvertrag mit National Grid, um die Lieferung des Projekts bis 2030 zu ermöglichen und zum 5-GW-Schwimmwindziel des Vereinigten Königreichs beizutragen.

Ørsted, Simply Blue Group and Subsea7 win Scottish floating wind lease

Salamander, a joint venture between Ørsted, Simply Blue Group and Subsea7, is pleased to have been offered an exclusivity agreement as part of Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round.

The 100 MW Salamander floating offshore wind project, located 35km off the coast of Peterhead in north-east Scotland, is designed to provide Scotland and its supply chain with an early opportunity to deliver floating offshore wind ahead of the larger-scale ScotWind buildout.

With gigawatts of floating wind buildout expected in Scotland and the UK over the next decade, Salamander will be a valuable stepping-stone to ensure that local supply chains are ready and able to take full advantage of this opportunity.

Salamander will demonstrate a package of innovative technologies at commercial scale, readying them for roll out in utility-scale projects such as the ScotWind leases. These technologies will be critical to ensuring that floating offshore wind energy is deliverable, affordable for consumers and creates value for local industry and business.

The INTOG round was split into two pots – one for smaller scale innovation projects of 100 MW or less and one for larger projects linked to oil and gas infrastructure. Salamander was successful in the innovation route.

Huw Bell, Salamander Project Director, said: “This opportunity through INTOG will allow us to progress the project, which will play a significant role in how the industry delivers floating wind going forward and help the Scottish supply chain to ramp up activities for the local and international market. We expect our approach to support the floating wind industry in the same way that seabed-fixed offshore wind successfully reduced costs over the last ten years. De-risking floating wind technologies for future commercial projects will allow Scotland to maximise the financial benefit of its strong offshore wind resource and generate long-term jobs for local communities.”

Salamander is currently undergoing an environmental impact assessment (EIA). The project has submitted its EIA scoping report to Marine Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council, who have now passed it to statutory and non-statutory consultees for their review and responses to the proposed project and scope of the EIA. The project has a grid connection agreement with National Grid to enable the project to be delivered by 2030 and contribute to the UK’s 5GW floating wind target.
