BW Ideol arbeitet mit ABP in Port Talbot zusammen zur Industrialisierung schwimmender Fundamente für das Keltische Meer

(WK-intern) – BW Ideol AS, ein weltweit führender Anbieter von schwimmenden Offshore-Windkraftanlagen, und Associated British Ports (ABP), der größte Hafenbetreiber im Vereinigten Königreich, haben ein Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) unterzeichnet, um die Machbarkeit einer seriellen Produktion von Betonunterkonstruktionen für schwimmende Offshore-Windkraftanlagen zu untersuchen Fundamente für Windkraftanlagen nach dem Entwurf von BW Ideol im ABP-Hafen Port Talbot.

Diese Vereinbarung wurde in Vorbereitung auf die von The Crown Estate angekündigte Celtic Sea-Leasingrunde unterzeichnet, die einen Markt mit erheblichem Multi-GW-Entwicklungspotenzial bietet.

Port Talbot, ca. 65-75 Seemeilen (120-140 km) von den von The Crown Estate beschriebenen Projektentwicklungsgebieten entfernt, ist es ideal als Produktionsstandort für die führende Technologie von BW Ideol gelegen.

Port Talbot ist der einzige Hafen in der Keltischen See, der über die nötige Größe – sowohl im Hinblick auf die Verfügbarkeit von Meeres- und Brachlandflächen – als auch über die technischen Fähigkeiten verfügt, um die Möglichkeiten der Lieferkette in der Keltischen See sowie die damit verbundenen Arbeitsplätze und Wohlstandsvorteile voll auszuschöpfen.

ABP ist Eigentümer und Betreiber des Hafens von Port Talbot und 20 weiterer Häfen im Vereinigten Königreich. ABP hat das Ziel, über 500 Millionen Pfund zu investieren, um Port Talbot in einen wichtigen Knotenpunkt für schwimmende Offshore-Windenergie (FLOW) zu verwandeln. Es würde als „Hub“ für ein größeres Netzwerk von Häfen fungieren. Die Investition ist Teil der Anfang 2023 gestarteten Nachhaltigkeitsstrategie „Ready for Tomorrow“, die Pläne für ABP und Partner vorsieht, bis 2040 2 Milliarden Pfund in die Dekarbonisierung der eigenen Betriebe zu investieren und eine groß angelegte Infrastruktur für grüne Energie und die Dekarbonisierung der Industrie zu unterstützen Projekte.

„Wir können es kaum erwarten, mit ABP in Port Talbot zusammenzuarbeiten, und wir haben keinen Zweifel daran, dass unsere patentierte Betonschwimmlösung, die kompakteste und skalierbarste Lösung auf dem Markt, in großem Maßstab herstellbar ist und wird in der Lage sein, zukünftige Installationsstandorte in der Keltischen See auszustatten und gleichzeitig ein Höchstmaß an lokalen Inhalten bereitzustellen.

„Wir haben es bereits in Schottland demonstriert, wo wir Fertigungsmethoden entwickelt haben, mit denen Floater für umgerechnet 1 GW pro Jahr bereitgestellt werden können“, sagte Paul de la Guérivière, CEO von BW Ideol.

BW Ideol teams up with ABP in Port Talbot on floating foundation industrialisation for the Celtic Sea

BW Ideol AS, a global leader in floating offshore wind, and Associated British Ports (ABP), the largest port operator in the UK, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to investigate the feasibility of serialised production of concrete substructures for floating offshore wind turbine foundations based on the BW Ideol design at ABP’s port of Port Talbot.

This agreement has been signed in preparation for the Celtic Sea leasing round announced by The Crown Estate offering a market of significant multi-GW development potential. Port Talbot, at ca. 65-75 nautical miles (120-140 km) from the Project Development Areas outlined by The Crown Estate, is ideally located as a manufacturing base for BW Ideol’s leading technology.

Port Talbot is the only port in the Celtic Sea with the scale – both in terms of marine and brownfield land space availability – and technical capabilities to fully maximise the Celtic Sea supply chain opportunity and the jobs and prosperity benefits that it should produce.

ABP is the owner and operator of the port at Port Talbot and 20 other ports around the United Kingdom. ABP has the ambition to invest over £500 million to transform Port Talbot into a major Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW) hub. It would act as a ‘hub’ for a wider network of ports. The investment is part of its sustainability strategy, ‘Ready for Tomorrow’ launched earlier in 2023, which sets out plans for ABP and partners to invest £2 billion into decarbonising its own operations by 2040 and supporting large-scale green energy infrastructure and industrial decarbonisation projects.
