Fred.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier (FOWIC) has been awarded a contract directly by Vestas Wind Systems (Vestas) for the transportation and installation of 50 Vestas V174-9.5MW wind turbines at the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm in Germany. The installation works will commence in 2024. This is one of the 3 new transport and installation contracts announced on 28 May 2021.

The jack-up installation vessel Blue Tern will execute the contract and the vessel was nominated for the site due to her ability to operate at deep water sites. The Baltic Sea represents challenging soil conditions which requires significant available leg lengths and jacking experience. Two conditions FOWIC can offer to the Baltic Eagle project, by proposing Blue Tern and having experience from the Wikinger project.

Dennis Mordhorst, Head of Marine Operations and Vessel Management, Vestas says: “Our collaboration with FOWIC goes back for years and this contract award emphasizes once again our strong partnership. FOWIC brings their proven offshore wind expertise and a highly capable vessel to the Baltic Eagle site and we look forward to a safe and successful project execution.”

“We are extremely proud to win another transport and installation contract directly with Vestas. This contract clearly showcases the diversity and competitiveness of our fleet and our ability to de-risk the execution of a challenging project. We look forward to supporting Vestas and Iberdrola in the Baltic Sea in 2024”, says Casper Toft, CCO, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
