Carbon Catalyst stimmt der Abtretung einer 10-prozentigen Beteiligung am Orion Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)-Projekt an Summit Energy Evolution Limited zu

(WK-intern) – Carbon Catalyst Limited (CCL) freut sich bekannt zu geben, dass es mit Summit Energy Evolution Limited (SEEL), einer hundertprozentigen Tochtergesellschaft der Sumitomo Corporation, eine Vereinbarung über die Veräußerung einer 10-prozentigen Arbeitsbeteiligung an der Kohlenstoffspeicherlizenz Orion im südlichen Norden getroffen hat Meeressektor des britischen Festlandsockels.

SEEL schließt sich CCL und dem Lizenzbetreiber Perenco bei diesem strategisch vorteilhaften Dekarbonisierungsprojekt an. Die Farmout-Vereinbarung unterliegt der behördlichen Genehmigung.

Orion markiert den Einstieg von SEEL in den britischen Kohlenstoffspeichersektor. Das Projekt besteht aus zwei Kohlenstoffspeicherlizenzen, CS017 und CS018, die die von Perenco UK (PUK) betriebenen und stillgelegten Amethyst- und erschöpften West Sole-Gasfelder abdecken. Bei diesen Feldern handelt es sich um die geografisch nächstgelegenen Offshore-Speicherstandorte zu Humberside, dem größten Industriecluster Großbritanniens, und sie sind über eine Pipeline direkt mit dem von PUK betriebenen Onshore-Gasterminal Dimlington verbunden.

Carbon Catalyst agrees farmout of 10% interest in Orion Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project to Summit Energy Evolution Limited

Carbon Catalyst Limited (CCL) is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with Summit Energy Evolution Limited (SEEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, to farmout a 10% working interest in the Orion carbon storage licence located in the Southern North Sea sector of the UK Continental Shelf.

SEEL joins CCL and licence operator, Perenco, in this strategically advantaged decarbonisation project. The farmout agreement is subject to regulatory approval.

Orion marks SEEL’s entry into the UK carbon storage sector. The project consists of two Carbon Storage Licenses, CS017 and CS018, which cover the Perenco UK (PUK)-operated and decommissioned Amethyst and depleted West Sole gas fields. These fields are the most geographically proximal offshore storage sites to Humberside, the UK’s largest industrial cluster, and are directly connected by pipeline to the PUK-operated onshore Dimlington Gas Terminal.

Orion envisions the permanent geological storage of approximately 126 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the PUK-operated Amethyst and West Sole depleted gas fields.
