Ørsted hat Neil O’Donovan zum CEO des Onshore-Geschäfts und zum neuen Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung per 15. September 2021 ernannt.

(WK-intern) – Neil O’Donovan ist seit dem 3. August 2021 interimistischer CEO der Geschäftseinheit und Chief Operating Officer ( COO) von Ørsted Onshore seit 2018.

Seit der bisherige CEO von Ørsted Onshore, Declan Flanagan, Anfang August dieses Jahres sein Amt niederlegte, fungiert Neil O’Donovan als Interims-CEO.

Gleichzeitig hat Ørsted einen gründlichen Rekrutierungsprozess durchgeführt, bei dem sowohl interne als auch externe Kandidaten bewertet wurden, und ist zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass Neil O’Donovan der beste Kandidat für die Festanstellung als Executive Vice President und CEO von Onshore ist.

Der Geschäftsbereich Onshore ist seit seiner Eingliederung in Ørsted im Jahr 2018 schnell gewachsen und umfasst nun Wind-, Solar- und Batterieanlagen in den USA und Europa mit insgesamt 4 GW in Betrieb und im Bau. Als COO von Ørsted Onshore hat Neil eine wichtige Rolle bei der erfolgreichen Skalierung des Geschäfts gespielt und wird nun seine Reise bei Ørsted Onshore fortsetzen, indem er die Rolle des CEO übernimmt. Vor seinem Eintritt bei Ørsted hat Neil eine lange Karriere in globalen Rollen in den Bereichen Technologie, Betrieb und kaufmännische Funktionen im Energiesektor hinter sich. Er hat einen MA in Maschinenbau von der University of California in Berkeley, USA.

Neil O’Donovan wird seinen Sitz in Dublin haben und auch von den anderen Standorten von Onshore aus arbeiten und die weitere Expansion von Onshore in den USA, Europa und weltweit leiten.

Ørsted Onshore hat das Ziel, im Jahr 2030 17,5 GW in Betrieb und im Bau zu erreichen, und strebt an, jährlich etwa 1,5 GW zusätzliche Kapazität bereitzustellen, basierend auf einer diversifizierten Pipeline wertschöpfender Wachstumschancen.

Ørsted appoints new CEO of Ørsted Onshore

Ørsted has appointed Neil O’Donovan as CEO of the Onshore business and new member of the Executive Committee as of 15 September 2021. Neil O’Donovan has acted as interim CEO of the business unit since 3 August 2021 and has been Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Ørsted Onshore since 2018.

Since the former CEO of Ørsted Onshore, Declan Flanagan, resigned from his position in the beginning of August this year, Neil O’Donovan has been acting as interim CEO. Simultaneously, Ørsted has conducted a thorough recruitment process, evaluating both internal and external candidates, and have concluded that Neil O’Donovan is the best candidate for the permanent position as Executive Vice President and CEO of Onshore.

The Onshore business unit has grown rapidly since becoming a part of Ørsted in 2018 and now consists of wind, solar, and battery assets across the US and Europe, with a total of 4 GW in operation and under construction. As COO of Ørsted Onshore, Neil has played an important role in successfully scaling the business, and he will now continue his journey with Ørsted Onshore by taking on the role as CEO. Before joining Ørsted, Neil has had a long career with global roles within technology, operations, and commercial functions in the energy sector. He holds an MA in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California in Berkeley, USA.

Ørsted Onshore has an ambition to reach 17.5 GW in operation and under construction in 2030 and aims to deliver approximately 1.5 GW of additional capacity annually based on a diversified pipeline of value-creating growth opportunities.
