(WK-intern) – SolarSuperState Prize for Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Liechtenstein on 23 August 2013 in Zurich
Zuerich – On 23 August 2013 in Zurich, the non-profit SolarSuperState Association  awarded SolarSuperState Prizes 2013 in the categories WIND and SOLAR to states.
The rounded cumulative installed power per capita at the end of the year 2012 (SolarSuperState Ranking 2013) of the Prize winner states are:
730 Watt per capita in Denmark (1. Prize category WIND)
490 Watt per capita in Spain (2. Prize category WIND)
430 Watt per capita in Portugal (3. Prize category WIND)
400 Watt per capita in Germany  (1. Prize category SOLAR)
290 Watt per capita in Liechtenstein (2. Prize category SOLAR)

All five Prize winner states used feed-in tariff laws, that favored wind or solar energy or both. The first feed-in tariff laws in the winner states came into force in
1991 Germany
1992 Denmark
1994 Spain
1999 Portugal
2008 Liechtenstein

In Germany, a major increase of the feed-in tariff for photovoltaics was at that time necessary (feed-in tariff law in 2000) in order to allow a take-off of the photovoltaic market.

The Danish ambassador Lars Vissing reaffirmed the commitment of the Danish government for a national 100 % renewable energy economy.
The trade counsellor of the Spanish Secretary of State for Trade Begoña Montoro Zulueta explained some benefits of the wind energy boom, especially the creation of a strong Spanish wind energy industry including wind turbine manufacturers and installation enterprises.
Jürg Senn, head of the Energiefachstelle of the state Liechtenstein, announced a further multiplication of the existing photovoltaic capacity in Liechtenstein.
The third SolarSuperState Prize 2013 in the category WIND for Portugal was fetched by the citizen Francisco Laranjeira. Laranjeira, Director of the largest wind turbine factory in Portugal, said at the award ceremony that the Portuguese wind turbine manufacturers need a continuous domestic market for wind turbines.
The first SolarSuperState Prize 2013 in the category SOLAR for Germany was fetched by the German citizen Brigitte Schmidt, the director of the Solarzentrum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Wietow. She outlined many new innovations like the energy power greenhouse, photovoltaics on cars or organic photovoltaics on buildings making photovoltaics an even stronger part of the national economy.

The SolarSuperState Association is the global voice of people and organizations that can benefit from rapidly increasing markets for decentralized renewable energy technologies (wind and solar energy, energy storage, …) by:

  • SolarSuperState Competition of all states of the world
  • SolarSuperState Ranking of all states of the world
  • SolarSuperState Prize for states
  • Request of 100 % renewable energy economies for all states
  • Request of 100 % renewable electricity in states within 5 years

The outcome of the SolarSuperState Competition is described in the annual SolarSuperState Ranking.
The SolarSuperState Association is the first global society that furthers rapid market volume increase of

  • wind energy
  • solar energy
  • plus energy buildings
  • vehicles using fuel produced from national renewable energy
  • energy storage technologies

by promoting 100 % renewable energy economies as soon as possible. The society requests for every state early and total phasing out of fossil energy electricity production (nuclear, coal, oil (like Diesel), natural gas), fossil energy heat production, fossil fuels production for transportation.
