Sasu Valkamo, M.Sc. (Eng.), wurde mit Wirkung zum 1.2.2022 zum Vizepräsidenten des Kernkraftwerks Loviisa von Fortum ernannt.

(WK-intern) – Valkamo verfügt über umfangreiche Erfahrung im Kernenergiesektor und hatte seit 1992 eine Reihe von Positionen bei Fortum inne.

Innerhalb des Geschäftsbereichs Fortum Generation war er verantwortlich für Kernkraft, thermische Energie und das Loviisa 3-Projekt in Miteigentum. Zuletzt war er Vice President, Engineering & Projects.

Der derzeitige Vizepräsident des Kernkraftwerks Loviisa, Satu Katajala, wird die Rolle des Vizepräsidenten für die Aufsicht über die nukleare Sicherheit und die internationale Zusammenarbeit übernehmen.

Loviisa-Kraftwerk

Im Jahr 2021 betrug der Auslastungsgrad von Fortums hundertprozentigem Kernkraftwerk Loviisa 92,9 %. Die kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung und Modernisierung des Kraftwerks ermöglichen Lastfaktoren, die international zu den besten für Druckwasserreaktoren gehören. In den vergangenen fünf Jahren hat Fortum insgesamt rund 325 Millionen Euro in das Kraftwerk Loviisa investiert. Im Jahr 2021 produzierte das Kraftwerk insgesamt 8,2 Terawattstunden (netto) Strom, das sind mehr als 10 % der finnischen Stromerzeugung. Fortum beschäftigt etwa 700 Fachleute aus dem Nuklearsektor, 530 davon arbeiten im Kraftwerk Loviisa. Sasu Valkamo appointed Vice President of Fortum’s Loviisa nuclear power plant

Sasu Valkamo, M.Sc. (Eng.), has been appointed Vice President of Fortum’s Loviisa nuclear power plant, effective 1.2.2022.

Valkamo has extensive experience in the nuclear power sector and has had a number of roles at Fortum since 1992. Within the Fortum Generation division, he has been responsible for co-owned nuclear, thermal power, and the Loviisa 3 project. His most recent role was Vice President, Engineering & Projects.

”Loviisa nuclear power plant has done great work to ensure safe and reliable electricity generation. I am excited to assume my new role as Vice President of the Loviisa nuclear power plant,” Sasu Valkamo says.

In 2021, the load factor at Fortum’s fully-owned Loviisa nuclear power plant was 92.9%. The continuous development and modernisation of the power plant enable load factors that are among the best for pressurised water reactors on an international scale. During the past five years Fortum’s investments in the Loviisa power plant have totalled about EUR 325 million. In 2021, the power plant produced a total of 8.2 terawatt hours (net) of electricity, which is more than 10% of Finland’s electricity production. Fortum employs about 700 nuclear sector professionals, 530 of them work at the Loviisa power plant.
