Die Iberdrola-Gruppe hat MHI Vestas Offshore Wind als offiziellen Turbinenlieferanten für den Offshore-Windpark Baltic Eagle ausgewählt.

(WK-intern) – Dieser neue Komplex mit einer Leistung von 476 Megawatt (MW), der 30 Kilometer von der deutschen Insel Rügen entfernt liegt, wird 475.000 Häuser mit erneuerbarer Energie versorgen.

Die Iberdrola-Gruppe hat MHI Vestas Offshore Wind als offiziellen Turbinenlieferanten für den Offshore-Windpark German Baltic Eagle mit einer Leistung von 476 Megawatt (MW) ausgewählt.

Der Vertrag umfasst die Lieferung von maximal 52 Windkraftanlagen des Unternehmens mit einer Leistung von V174-9,5 MW für die Lieferung in den Jahren 2022 und 2023.

Iberdrola group has chosen MHI Vestas Offshore Wind as its official supplier of turbines for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm. This new complex, with a capacity of 476 megawatts (MW) located 30 kilometres from the German island of Rügen, will supply renewable energy to 475,000 houses.

The contract includes the supply of a maximum of 52 of the company’s V174-9.5 MW wind turbines for delivery in 2022 and 2023.

This decision confirms Iberdrola’s commitment to developing this new renewable project in the German Baltic Sea, 30 km from the coast of Rügen island on an area of 40 km2. The wind farm, which will be connected to the Lubmin substation by two new high voltage cables to be installed by 50Hertz, will be operated from the port of Mukran on the island of Rügen.

The company was awarded the project in April 2018 in the second call for offshore tenders launched by the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). The geotechnical and geophysical phase — at a cost of over €10 million — is already concluded. This will be a key stage in the building and commissioning of this renewable installation: the data obtained will determine the design of the foundations on which the turbines and substation will be built, and which will be installed at depths of up to 45 metres.

All the necessary formalities for designing and acquiring the main components are progressing according to the schedule.

A MEGAPROJECT IN THE BALTIC SEA
Baltic Eagle represents the second large offshore initiative promoted by the Iberdrola group in Germany, after the commissioning of the Wikinger offshore wind farm (350 MW) at the end of 2017. The company also has another offshore installation currently in development in Germany: Wikinger Süd (10 MW). These three wind farms, located next to the island of Rügen, will give rise to the largest offshore wind complex in the Baltic Sea, with a total installed capacity of 836 MW and a joint investment of €2.5 billion.

Baltic Eagle and Wikinger will be able to produce enough energy to meet 45% of the total electricity consumption of the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and it will prevent the emission of 1.65 million tons of CO2 per year, thus contributing to meeting the emission reduction targets set by Germany.
