Commissioned by Nagasaki Ocean Academy (NOA),  BLIX developed a two-day course on offshore wind farm development in cooperation with DOB-Academy*. This course is a tailor-made version of the course that we have developed together and focuses on Asian market. It will be handed over to a select group of professors who will be teaching the course in Japan. Based on existing projects and in consultation with the Asian partners, this course is specifically suitable for gaining knowledge on the development of offshore wind in Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese waters. All the teaching material of the course is adapted to the wishes and design of NOA. 

The course teaches professionals about the development of an offshore wind farm, through lectures and interactive cases. Moreover, the financial impact of choices made by the participants in the cases is immediately visible in the business case of the fictitious wind farm with an actual financial model running in the background. In this way, particicpants immediately learn the interaction of chosen solutions and their financial impact.

The course takes a closer look at: what is the impact of a change in wind speeds, what does the choice for a specific plot or a certain wind turbine size mean, what if the electricity prices disappoint or the development of the electrical network slows down?

Due to COVID-19, in May the lectures will be handed over in the form of an online course through DOB-Academy’s live stream service. Later this year, Japan will be visited to give the professors the full experience of the interactive cases and the accompanying financial model.
