(WK-intern) – Natural Power unterstützt einen Antrag auf Baugenehmigung für den Bau, den Betrieb und die Stilllegung des 1,3 GW starken Codling Wind Park-Projekts einzureichen.

Irlands größtes Offshore-Phase-1-Projekt, das das Potenzial hat, jährlich mehr als 1 Million irische Haushalte mit Strom zu versorgen und entscheidend dazu beitragen wird, die Energieziele des Landkreises für 2030 zu erreichen.

Natural Power hat in verschiedenen Rollen am Codling-Projekt mitgearbeitet, darunter auch als Abordnung an den Kunden, und hat den Bauantrag durch intensive Studien, Engagement und Umfragen unterstützt und sich dabei auf die Expertise von bis zu 40 Mitarbeitern im weltweiten Büronetzwerk des Unternehmens verlassen.
Zu den spezifischen Aufgaben gehörten die Bereitstellung von technischem Design und Management, die Vorbereitung der technischen Arbeitgeberanforderungen für die Hauptpakete, die Verwaltung des Ausschreibungs- und Beschaffungsprozesses für Dienstleistungen, die Leitung technischer Verhandlungen, die Durchführung technischer Due Diligence für die Turbinenversorgung und die Unterstützung der Optimierung von Projektdesigns für die ORESS-Auktionsstrategie.

Dieses jüngste Projekt umfasste auch die Umweltverträglichkeitsprüfung (EIAR), die die Qualität des Meerwassers, subtidale und intertidale Ökologie, Ornithologie, Offshore-Fledermäuse und materielle Vermögenswerte sowie die Meeresinfrastruktur umfasste, sowie die Natura Impact Statement (NIS).

Ciaran Farrell, Leiter der Beratung für Europa bei Natural Power, sagte: „Diese unglaublich komplexe Anwendung wurde über einen Zeitraum von vier Jahren von einem branchenführenden Team nach den höchsten Standards entwickelt, während Irland parallel dazu den größten Teil des rechtlichen, planerischen und regulatorischen Rahmens für Offshore-Erneuerbare Energien entwickelte – eine neue Branche im Land. Das Fortschreiten von Codling durch den Planungsprozess sendet ein klares Signal, dass der Offshore-Sektor vorankommt.

„Wir sind von unserem Ansatz überzeugt und warten gespannt auf das Feedback und die Entschlossenheit von An Bord Pleanála, um dieses wegweisende Projekt hoffentlich zum Erfolg zu führen und die Produktion sauberer Energie zu unterstützen, die letztlich die jährliche Freisetzung von mehr als 1,7 Millionen Tonnen CO₂ in die Atmosphäre verhindern wird.“

Während des gesamten Projekts hat Natural Power die laufenden Konsultationen des Projekts mit An Bord Pleanála unterstützt, um den besten Ansatz sicherzustellen, und hat auch die Abstimmung mit anderen Projekten der Phase 1 an der Ostküste Irlands unterstützt.

Dieser geplante Offshore-Windpark besteht aus einem Kraftwerk mit Windturbinengeneratoren in der Irischen See, etwa 13 bis 22 km vor der Küste der Grafschaft Wicklow. Die Offshore- und Onshore-Übertragungsinfrastruktur wird das Kraftwerk mit dem Festland und dem irischen Stromnetz in Poolbeg, Dublin 4, verbinden.

Natural Power, a leading renewable energy consultancy and service provider, has supported Codling Wind Park Ltd., a joint venture between EDF Renewables and Fred. Olsen Seawind, to submit an application for planning permission to An Bord Pleanála for the construction, operation and decommissioning of the 1.3 GW Codling Wind Park Project – Ireland’s largest Phase 1 project, which has the potential to provide power to more than 1m Irish homes every year and will be critical in helping to meet the county’s 2030 energy targets.

Natural Power has worked with the Codling project in various roles, including secondments to the client, and has supported the planning application through intensive study, engagement and surveys, relying on the expertise of up to 40 people across the company’s global office network.
Specific roles have included the provision of engineering design and management, preparation of technical employer’s requirements for the main packages, management of the tendering and procurement process for services, leading technical negotiations, performing technical due diligence for turbine supply and support optimisation project designs for the ORESS auction strategy.

This most recent project also included the environmental impact assessment (EIAR), comprising marine water quality, subtidal and intertidal ecology, ornithology, offshore bats and material assets and marine infrastructure; and the Natura Impact Statement (NIS).

The progression of Codling through the planning process sends a clear signal that the offshore sector is moving forward.

“We are confident in our approach and eagerly await the feedback and determination of An Bord Pleanála to hopefully bring this landmark project to fruition and support the production of clean energy that will ultimately prevent the annual release of more than 1.7 million tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere.”

Throughout the project, Natural Power has been supporting the project’s ongoing consultations with An Bord Pleanála to ensure the best approach and has also supported alignment with other Phase 1 projects on the east coast of Ireland.

This proposed offshore wind farm consists of a generating station with wind turbine generators in the Irish Sea, approximately 13-22 km off the County Wicklow coast. Offshore and onshore transmission infrastructure will connect the generating station to the shore and to the Irish national grid at Poolbeg, Dublin 4.
