RWE unterzeichnet Rahmenvereinbarung für Monopile-Fundamente mit Steelwind und sichert sich Kapazitäten für zukünftige Offshore-Windparks

• Produktionskapazitäten für bis zu 300 Monopiles reserviert; Fundamente für Offshore-Windprojekte von RWE in Europa vorgesehen, die ab Ende 2029 den Betrieb aufnehmen sollen
• 200 Monopile-Fundamente sollen ab 2027 im Werk von Steelwind in Nordenham produziert werden; Option für weitere 100 Monopile-Fundamente
• Bezug weiterer Leistungen von Steelwind für RWE möglich – wie Lieferung von sekundären Stahlkonstruktionen sowie Unterstützung bei Lagerung und Logistik

(WK-intern) – Essen – RWE hat mit Steelwind Nordenham (Steelwind), einem Unternehmen der Dillinger Gruppe, einen Vertrag für die Produktion von bis zu 300 Monopile-Fundamenten für ihre Offshore-Windprojekte in Europa unterzeichnet.

Durch diesen Vertrag sichert sich RWE Produktionskapazitäten in einem Markt, der von knappen Ressourcen in der Lieferkette geprägt ist.

Rahmenvereinbarungen wie diese sind genau das, was wir angesichts der herausfordernden Marktsituation brauchen.“

Steelwind wird in seinem Werk in Nordenham ab 2027 über einen Zeitraum von 24 Monaten Kapazitäten für 320.000 Tonnen Stahl reservieren, um rund 200 Monopile-Fundamente produzieren zu können. Der Vertrag kann um weitere 12 Monate verlängert werden und sieht eine zusätzliche Kapazität von 160.000 Tonnen Stahl vor, was etwa 100 Monopile-Fundamenten entspricht. Die von Steelwind hergestellten Fundamente sollen in Offshore-Windparks zum Einsatz kommen, die RWE ab Ende 2029 in Europa in Betrieb nehmen will. Darüber hinaus sieht die Vereinbarung vor, dass RWE zusätzliche Dienstleistungen von Steelwind in Anspruch nehmen kann, wie zum Beispiel die Lieferung von sekundären Stahlkonstruktionen oder im Bereich der Lagerung und Logistik.

Als einer der weltweit führenden Akteure im Bereich der Offshore-Windenergie hat RWE in den vergangenen mehr als 20 Jahren 19 Offshore-Windparks in Betrieb genommen, davon sechs vor der deutschen Küste. RWE hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, ihre globale Offshore-Windkapazität von heute 3,3 Gigawatt auf 10 Gigawatt im Jahr 2030 zu verdreifachen.

Seit 2014 fertigt Steelwind Monopile-Fundamente und einteilige Monopile-Fundamente mit Stückgewichten von bis zu 2.400 Tonnen für Offshore-Windparks. Der Stahl für diese hochmodernen Fundamente stammt von Dillinger. Gemeinsam treiben die Unternehmen mit ihren Produkten den Ausbau „grüner“ Energie voran.

Über finanzielle Details haben beide Partner Stillschweigen vereinbart.

RWE signs framework agreement for monopile foundations with Steelwind to secure capacity for future offshore wind farms

• Production capacities for up to 300 monopiles reserved in a tight market; monopiles to be used at RWE’s offshore wind projects in Europe that are to be commissioned from end of 2029 onwards
• 200 monopiles to be manufactured in Steelwind’s German production facility from 2027 onwards, option for further 100 monopiles
• Option for RWE to secure additional Steelwind services such as delivery of secondary steel structures, and storage and marshalling support

Essen – RWE has signed a Capacity Reservation Agreement with Steelwind Nordenham GmbH (Steelwind), a Dillinger Group company, for up to 300 monopile foundations for its future offshore wind projects in Europe. Through this contract, RWE has secured production capacities in a tight market.

This type of framework agreement is exactly what we need given the challenging market conditions.”

Steelwind will reserve capacity at its German monopile production plant in Nordenham for 320,000 metric tonnes of steel, equivalent to approximately 200 monopiles, over a 24-month period starting in 2027. The contract has an option to be extended for a further 12 months and provides an additional capacity of 160,000 metric tonnes of steel, the equivalent of around 100 monopiles. The monopiles made by Steelwind are to be used at offshore wind farms which RWE plans to commission in Europe from the end of 2029 onwards. In addition, the agreement gives RWE the option to take up additional services from Steelwind, such as secondary steel structure delivery, and the provision of storage and marshalling support.

With this Capacity Reservation Agreement, RWE, one of the world’s leading companies in the field of renewable energies, and Dillinger, Europe’s leading manufacturer of heavy plate steel, are continuing their long-standing collaboration.

RWE is one of the leading players in offshore wind globally. In the past 20 years, the company has put 19 offshore wind farms into operation, including six off the German coast. RWE has set itself the goal of tripling its global offshore wind capacity from 3.3 gigawatts today to 10 gigawatts in 2030.

Steelwind has been manufacturing monopiles and single-piece monopile foundations with unit weights of up to 2,400 tonnes for offshore wind farms since 2014. The steel for these highly advanced monopile foundations comes from Dillinger. Together, the companies are driving the expansion of green energy with their products.

Both partners have agreed not to disclose financial details.
