Renexia, Teil der TOTO Holding, hat Fugro einen Untersuchungsauftrag für den schwimmenden Windpark Med Wind in der Straße von Sizilien erteilt, eines der größten geplanten Projekte für erneuerbare Energien im Mittelmeer mit 190 schwimmenden Turbinen für eine installierte Leistung von 2,8 GW.

(WK-intern) – Fugro wird Renexia detaillierte geophysikalische Meeres- und Umweltuntersuchungen zur Verfügung stellen und modernste Ausrüstung und spezialisiertes Personal einsetzen, um umfassende Geodaten am vorgeschlagenen Windparkstandort und entlang der beiden vorgeschlagenen Exportkabelkorridore zu erfassen.

Sobald Fugro die erforderlichen Geodaten in den Wassertiefen des Standorts von 300 m bis 900 m erfasst hat, werden die Ergebnisse der Analyse verwendet, um Empfehlungen zur Minderung des Georisikos zu geben und eine sichere Route für die Installation der beiden Exportkabel zu identifizieren.

Diese Ergebnisse werden auch in den endgültigen Antrag auf integrierte Umweltverträglichkeitsprüfung (UVP) beim italienischen Ministerium für Energiewende einfließen.

Sobald der 850 km2 große Windpark 60 km vor der italienischen Küste in Betrieb ist, sollte er genug Strom liefern, um 3,4 Millionen Haushalte pro Jahr mit Strom zu versorgen, was einer jährlichen CO2-Einsparung von 2,7 Millionen Tonnen entspricht.

Fugro supports Italy’s energy transition with Renexia survey for Med Wind floating wind farm

Renexia, part of TOTO Holding, has awarded Fugro a survey contract for the Med Wind floating wind farm in the Strait of Sicily, one of the biggest renewable energy projects planned for the Mediterranean Sea, with 190 floating turbines for an installed capacity of 2.8 GW. Fugro will provide Renexia with detailed marine geophysical and environmental surveys, deploying state-of-the-art equipment and specialised personnel to acquire comprehensive Geo-data at the proposed wind farm location and along the two proposed export cable corridors.

Once Fugro has acquired the necessary Geo-data in the site’s water depths of 300 m to 900 m, the results of the analysis will be used to advise on geohazard risk mitigation and identify a safe route for installation of the two export cables. These results will also feed into the final integrated environmental impact assessment (EIA) application to Italy’s Ministry of Energy Transition.

Once operational, the 850 km2 wind farm located 60 km off the Italian coast should provide enough electricity to power 3.4 million homes a year, which translates to an annual CO2 saving of 2.7 million tons.
