Inch Cape begrüßte Gillian Martin MSP, Kabinettssekretärin für Klimaschutz und Energie, diese Woche auf der Offshore-Baubasis des Projekts im Hafen von Montrose.

(WK-intern) – Dort erhielt sie umfassende Einblicke in den Projektverlauf und die Projektschwerpunkte und konnte sich die zentrale Arbeit des maritimen Koordinierungszentrums persönlich ansehen.

Die Kabinettssekretärin wurde über den Projektstatus und die Aktivitäten informiert. Höhepunkte waren die jüngsten wichtigen Meilensteine ​​im Offshore-Bau, darunter die Installation der Offshore-Umspannplattform und des ersten Exportkabels sowie die Ankunft der ersten XXL-Monopiles im Hafen von Leith.

Sie erhielt außerdem einen Überblick über die bevorstehenden Offshore-Arbeiten – 2026 wird ein äußerst arbeitsreiches Jahr für das Projekt – und einen Einblick in die Komplexität des Offshore-Windenergiebaus. Abschließend erhielt sie eine Führung durch das maritime Koordinierungszentrum, die zentrale Schaltstelle für alle Offshore-Bau- und Schiffsaktivitäten des Projekts.

Während seines Aufenthalts im Hafen traf sich der Kabinettssekretär auch mit dem Team des Hafens von Montrose, das Neuigkeiten über die Akademie für erneuerbare Energien, die Teil des sanierten Zollhauses sein wird, und die Masterplanprojekte des Hafens berichtete, die eine Schlüsselrolle für die Zukunft der schottischen Offshore-Windenergie spielen werden.

Inch Cape welcomes Cabinet Secretary to Montrose construction base

Inch Cape welcomed Gillian Martin MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy, to the project’s offshore construction base in the Port of Montrose this week, where she was given a full insight into the project’s progress and focus, and saw first-hand the key work of the marine coordination centre.

The Cabinet Secretary was updated on the project status and activity, with highlights being the recent major offshore construction milestones including installation of the offshore substation platform and the first export cable, and arrival of the first XXL monopiles into the Port of Leith.

She was also got an overview of the offshore work to come, with 2026 set to be an extremely busy year for the project, and an understanding of the complexities of offshore wind construction. Finally she was given a guided tour of the marine coordination centre, the nerve-centre of all the project’s offshore construction and vessel activity.

While at the port, the Cabinet Secretary also met with Port of Montrose team, who shared news on the renewables skills academy which will be part of the regenerated Customs House, and the port’s master plan projects, set to play a key role in the future of Scottish offshore wind.
