Zürich – Gurit (SIX Swiss Exchange: GURN) gibt stolz seine Nominierung als Finalist für die JEC Composites Innovation Awards 2024 in der Kategorie Maritime Transport und Schiffbau bekannt.

(WK-intern) – In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) und McConaghy Boats haben die fortschrittlichen Verbundwerkstoffe und die Strukturtechnik von Gurit dazu beigetragen, die revolutionären wasserstoffbetriebenen Verfolgungsboote für America’s-Cup-Teams zu entwickeln.

Gurits Zusammenarbeit mit ETNZ, der treibenden Kraft hinter der Einführung emissionsfreier Schiffe für den America’s Cup, stellt zusammen mit McConaghy Boats eine außergewöhnliche Synergie von Fachwissen dar.

ETNZ übernahm das detaillierte Design, die Schiffsarchitektur, die Folien, die Systemintegration und die Softwareentwicklung, während Gurit Composite Engineers die FEA-Modelloptimierung nutzte, um bei der Entwicklung einer leichten, strukturell durchgehenden Luke mit Belüftung zu helfen, was zu dem charakteristischen dreieckigen Muster der Seitendecks führte des Bootes. Diese Struktur soll maximale Flexibilität bei der Konstruktion und Installation der Wasserstoff-Brennstoffzelle und der unterstützenden Systeme gewährleisten. Nachdem der Prototyp des Schiffes erfolgreich vorgeführt wurde, produzierte McConaghy Boats anschließend die Serienversion und stellte die Technologie dem Rennkomitee und anderen Teams zur Verfügung.

Dieser Prototyp und die weitere Produktion von Wasserstoff-Verfolgungsbooten demonstrieren die Möglichkeiten einer breiteren Einführung emissionsfreier Technologie für andere Schiffsanwendungen wie Hochgeschwindigkeitsfähren und Hochgeschwindigkeits-Handelsschiffe, um diese Transportarten zu dekarbonisieren.
Gurit fühlt sich geehrt, als einer von drei Finalisten in einem strengen Auswahlverfahren aus Hunderten von Einreichungen bei den JEC Innovation Awards 2024 ausgezeichnet zu werden, und setzt sich weiterhin für die Förderung nachhaltiger Lösungen im Seeverkehr und Schiffbau ein.

Die Preisverleihung findet am 8. Februar 2024 in Paris, Frankreich, statt. Gurit-Experten werden auf der JEC World-Ausstellung in Paris vom 5. bis 7. März 2024 in Halle 5A, Stand K20 vertreten sein.

Gurit Announced as Finalist in JEC Composites Innovation Awards 2024

Zurich – Gurit (SIX Swiss Exchange: GURN) proudly announces its nomination as a finalist for the JEC Composites Innovation Awards 2024, in the Maritime Transportation and Shipbuilding category.

In partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) and McConaghy Boats, Gurit’s advanced composite materials and structural engineering helped to pioneer the revolutionary hydrogen powered chase boats for America’s Cup teams.

Gurit’s collaboration with ETNZ, the driving force behind the introduction of zero-emission vessels for the America’s Cup, along with McConaghy Boats, represents an exceptional synergy of expertise. ETNZ undertook the detailed design, naval architecture, foils, systems integration, and software development, while Gurit Composite Engineers used FEA model optimization to help develop a lightweight, structurally continuous hatch which included ventilation, resulting in the distinctive triangular pattern seen in the side decks of the boat. This structure is designed to ensure maximum flexibility in the design and installation of the hydrogen fuel cell and supporting systems. With the prototype vessel successfully demonstrated, McConaghy Boats then produced the production version while making the technology available to the race committee and other teams.

This prototype and further production of hydrogen chase boats demonstrates the possibilities for wider adoption of zero-emission technology for other marine applications such as high-speed ferries and high-speed commercial vessels, to decarbonize these forms of transport.
Gurit is honored to be recognized as one of three finalists out of a rigorous selection process from hundreds of submissions in the JEC Innovation Awards 2024 and remains committed to promoting sustainable solutions in maritime transport and shipbuilding.

The award ceremony will take place on February 8, 2024 in Paris, France. Gurit experts will be present at the JEC World exhibition in Paris, March 5 – 7, 2023 in hall 5A, booth K20.
