Der Belegschaft fehlen die notwendigen Kompetenzen, um diesen Wandel voranzutreiben. Derzeit verfügt nur jeder achte Arbeitnehmer über mindestens eine grüne Kompetenz, die für die Erreichung der Klimaziele unerlässlich ist.

Um diese Lücke zu schließen, gründet Climate KIC die Climate KIC Academy – eine transformative Initiative, die Menschen die entscheidenden Kompetenzen vermittelt, die für einen beschleunigten Übergang zu einer nachhaltigen Wirtschaft erforderlich sind. Ziel dieser Initiative ist es, eine faire und gerechte Zukunft zu unterstützen, in der die Menschheit innerhalb der planetaren Grenzen gedeihen kann. Da sich die Industrien als Reaktion auf die Anforderungen des Klimaschutzes weiterentwickeln, müssen sich auch die Arbeitskräfte weiterentwickeln. Die bestehende Qualifikationslücke stellt jedoch ein großes Hindernis für den Fortschritt dar.

Die Climate KIC Academy begegnet dieser Herausforderung, indem sie technische Umweltkompetenzen mit bereichsübergreifenden Führungskompetenzen verbindet. So wird sichergestellt, dass Nachhaltigkeitsbemühungen nicht nur verstanden, sondern auch effektiv umgesetzt werden.

Die Industrie entwickelt zwar Lösungen wie erneuerbare Energien, CO2-Bilanzierung und nachhaltiges Engineering, doch diese technischen Fortschritte allein reichen nicht aus. Das eigentliche Problem liegt in der Fähigkeit, zu führen, zu kommunizieren und den systemischen Wandel voranzutreiben.

Die innovativen Programme der Climate KIC Academy begegnen diesem Problem durch die Kombination von:

Technische Umweltkompetenzen – Wissen in Bereichen wie Kreislaufwirtschaft, Städteplanung und Nachhaltigkeitsrahmen, bereitgestellt von unseren Partnern.
Führung und systemisches Denken – Die Fähigkeit, komplexe Herausforderungen zu meistern, Zusammenarbeit zu fördern und nachhaltiges Handeln branchenübergreifend zu beeinflussen.
Konfliktlösung und Kommunikation – Wir vermitteln Einzelpersonen die Werkzeuge, um sich effektiv in politischen, geschäftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Initiativen zu engagieren.

Durch die Kombination dieser wichtigen Kompetenzen stellt die Climate KIC Academy sicher, dass die Teilnehmer – ob Berufseinsteiger in die grüne Wirtschaft, Unternehmensleiter, die Nachhaltigkeitsstrategien entwickeln, oder zukünftige Akteure, die den lokalen Wandel vorantreiben – in der Lage sind, wirklich etwas zu bewirken.

Climate KIC launches the Climate KIC Academy to close the green skills gap

For over 15 years, Climate KIC (Europe’s leading climate innovations agency) has been at the forefront of climate innovation, equipping individuals and organisations with the skills and knowledge needed to drive systemic change. Now, as Europe advances the Clean Industrial Deal to accelerate sustainability-driven business models, a critical challenge remains: the workforce lacks the necessary skills to drive this transition. Currently, only one in eight workers possess at least one green skill essential for advancing climate ambitions.

To bridge this gap, Climate KIC is launching the Climate KIC Academy—a transformative initiative designed to equip individuals with the critical skills needed to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy. This effort aims to support a fair and just future where humanity thrives within planetary boundaries. As industries evolve in response to the demands of climate action, the workforce must evolve with them. However, the existing skills gap poses a major barrier to progress.

The Climate KIC Academy addresses this challenge by integrating technical green skills with transversal leadership capabilities—ensuring that sustainability efforts are not just understood but effectively led.
