Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has been contracted to supply 33 MW1 for five wind farms being developed by REG Windpower, which have already been sold to funds managed by BlackRock. In total, the company will install 17 turbines of the 2 MW platform, and will maintain them for the next ten years. Specifically, the company will install 2 G97-2.0 MW wind turbines at Rodbaston wind farm, located in central England; 2 G80-2.0 MW at French Farm, placed in Eastern England; 6 G87 at Mynydd Portref, in South Wales; 4 G80-2.0 MW at Mynydd Brombil, also located in South Wales, and three G80-2.0 with a rated power at 1.66 MW each in Brackagh Quarry, a wind farm placed in Northern Ireland. These 17 wind turbines are planned for delivery during the second half of this year and the wind farms are expected to be operational some months later. Gamesa has been present in the UK, where it has installed and maintains close to 500 MW, since 2005.
