Richtfest: Betriebs- und Wartungsbasis für den Offshore-Windpark Thor steht kurz vor der Fertigstellung

• Dänemarks größter Offshore-Windpark wird von einem neuen, hochmodernen Gebäude im Hafen von Thorsminde aus versorgt.
• Das 2.300 Quadratmeter große Gebäude soll bis Ende 2025 fertiggestellt sein.
• Schaffung von bis zu 60 dauerhaften Arbeitsplätzen erwartet.

(WK-intern) – Gestern feierten RWE und das dänische Bauunternehmen Østermark Entreprenørforretning das Richtfest für das neue Gebäude, das die Betriebs- und Wartungsbasis für Dänemarks größten Offshore-Windpark Thor beherbergen wird.

Im Hafen von Thorsminde feierten zahlreiche Teilnehmer aus der Region – darunter Nachbarn, Partner, lokale Handwerker sowie Vertreter der Gemeinde Holstebro und der lokalen Wirtschaft – diesen Meilenstein gemeinsam.

Die Betriebs- und Wartungsbasis befindet sich im Hafen von Thorsminde. Mit seinen 2.300 Quadratmetern auf drei Etagen wird das hochmoderne Gebäude die notwendigen Einrichtungen für den effizienten Betrieb des Offshore-Windparks Thor beherbergen – darunter einen Kontrollraum, Lager- und Büroräume. Im Rahmen des Betriebs- und Wartungsplans werden 50 bis 60 Arbeitsplätze vor Ort geschaffen.

Die Fertigstellung des Gebäudes ist für Ende 2025 geplant. Ab Frühjahr 2026 werden Serviceschiffe täglich Techniker und Betriebspersonal vom Hafen Thorsminde zu den Turbinen bringen. RWE plant, den Windpark mindestens 30 Jahre lang von Thorsminde aus zu betreuen.

Die Arbeiten am Offshore-Windpark Thor schreiten voran

Die Bauarbeiten verlaufen planmäßig. Die Fundament- und Kabelverlegungsarbeiten sind im Gange, und die Installation der 72 Offshore-Windturbinen soll 2026 beginnen. Nach seiner Fertigstellung im Jahr 2027 wird Thor genug Strom produzieren können, um mehr als eine Million dänische Haushalte zu versorgen.

Thor wird der erste Offshore-Windpark weltweit sein, dessen Stahltürme mit einem deutlich geringeren CO2-Fußabdruck als üblich hergestellt werden. Darüber hinaus wird die Hälfte der Turbinen mit recycelbaren Rotorblättern ausgestattet sein.

Der Offshore-Windpark Thor mit einer Leistung von 1.080 Megawatt ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt von RWE (51 %) und Norges Bank Investment Management (49 %). RWE ist für den Bau und Betrieb des Offshore-Windparks Thor während seiner gesamten Lebensdauer verantwortlich.

Weltweit führend in der Offshore-Windenergie

RWE betreibt weltweit bereits 19 Offshore-Windparks, darunter Rødsand 2 südlich der dänischen Insel Lolland. Neben Thor in Dänemark baut das Unternehmen derzeit drei große Offshore-Windparks: den Offshore-Windpark Sofia (1,4 GW) in Großbritannien, den Nordseecluster (1,6 GW, RWE-Anteil: 51 %) vor der deutschen Küste und OranjeWind (795 MW, RWE-Anteil: 50 %) in den Niederlanden.

Topping-out ceremony: operations and maintenance base for Thor offshore wind farm nearing completion

• Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm will be served from a new, state-of-the-art building at Thorsminde port
• 2,300 square metre building is expected to be completed by the end of 2025
• Creation of up to 60 permanent jobs expected

Yesterday, RWE and Danish construction company Østermark Entreprenørforretning held a topping-out ceremony for the new building that will be the operations and maintenance base for Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm, Thor. At Thorsminde port a wide range of participants from the local area – including neighbours, partners, local craftsmen and representatives from Holstebro Municipality and the local business community – jointly celebrated this milestone.

The operations and maintenance base is located at Thorsminde port. With its 2,300 square metres spread over three floors, the state-of-the-art building will house the necessary facilities to ensure the efficient operation of Thor offshore wind farm – including a control room, warehousing and office facilities. As part of the operations and maintenance plan, 50-60 local jobs will be created.

The building is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, and from spring 2026, service vessels will sail technicians and operating personnel to the turbines daily from Thorsminde port. RWE plans to support the wind farm from Thorsminde for at least 30 years.

Work on Thor offshore wind farm is progressing

Construction works continue to progress according to plan. Foundation and cable installation works are underway and installation of the 72 offshore wind turbines is expected to begin in 2026. When completed in 2027, Thor will be able to produce enough electricity to supply more than one million Danish homes.

Thor will be the first offshore wind farm in the world where the turbine steel towers are manufactured with a significantly lower carbon footprint than usual. In addition, half of the turbines will be equipped with recyclable rotor blades.

Thor offshore wind farm, which will have a capacity of 1,080 megawatts, is a joint project of RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%). RWE is in charge of the construction and operations throughout the lifecycle of Thor offshore wind farm.

A global leader in offshore wind

RWE already has 19 offshore wind farms in operation globally, including Rødsand 2, located south of the Danish island of Lolland. In addition to Thor in Denmark, the company is currently building three major offshore wind farms: the Sofia offshore wind farm (1.4 GW) in the UK, the Nordseecluster (1.6 GW, RWE share: 51%) off the German coast and OranjeWind (795 MW, RWE share: 50%) in the Netherlands.
