Das niederländische Pultrusionsunternehmen Prince Fibre kündigt den Besuch des Königs zur Eröffnung einer neuen Produktionsstätte an.

(WK-intern) – Kampen (NL) – Mit einem klaren Bekenntnis zur Zukunft des Leichtbaus hat Seine Majestät König Willem-Alexander die neue Produktionshalle des niederländischen Composite-Spezialisten Prince Fibre offiziell eröffnet.

Das familiengeführte Unternehmen investiert mit dem 3.700 m² großen Neubau gezielt in Wachstum, Internationalisierung und nachhaltige Materiallösungen.

Prince Fibre, seit 1997 auf die Entwicklung und Produktion faserverstärkter Profile spezialisiert, verlagert seinen Standort von Dronten nach Kampen, um Produktionskapazitäten deutlich auszubauen. Die neue Anlage ermöglicht höhere Stückzahlen, schnellere Reaktionszeiten sowie die Entwicklung kundenspezifischer Lösungen für internationale Märkte.

Im Zentrum steht die Pultrusionstechnologie – ein kontinuierliches, automatisiertes Verfahren zur Herstellung hochfester Composite-Profile. Dabei werden Carbon-, Glas- und zunehmend auch Naturfasern mit Harzen kombiniert. Das Ergebnis sind Bauteile, die bei deutlich geringerem Gewicht eine bis zu zehnfach höhere Festigkeit als Stahl erreichen und gleichzeitig korrosionsbeständig sowie langlebig sind.

Die Einsatzmöglichkeiten reichen von Robotiklösungen in der Lebensmittelindustrie über Baukomponenten bis hin zu industriellen Messsystemen und Anwendungen im Sportstättenbereich. Mit dem wachsenden Fokus auf biobasierte Materialien adressiert Prince Fibre zudem die steigende Nachfrage nach nachhaltigen Leichtbaulösungen.

Im Rahmen seines Besuchs erhielt König Willem-Alexander einen umfassenden Einblick in die Produktion – von den Rohmaterialien bis zum fertigen Profil. Besonders im Fokus standen konkrete Anwendungen internationaler Kunden, die die Bandbreite der Technologie verdeutlichen.

„Mit der neuen Produktionshalle schaffen wir die Grundlage für weiteres Wachstum und stärken gleichzeitig unsere Innovationskraft im Bereich nachhaltiger Composites“, erklärt das Unternehmen.

Prince Fibre ist Teil der Groothuis Group und wird von Wim Groothuis und Gerard de Weerd geführt. Sämtliche Produkte werden vollständig im eigenen Haus entwickelt und gefertigt. Kooperationen, unter anderem mit der Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, sichern zudem den Wissenstransfer und die Förderung des Fachkräftenachwuchses.

Dutch pultrusion company Prince Fibre announces king´s visit for opening of new production facility

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander officially opened Prince Fibre’s new production hall in Kampen on March 20th, 2026. The Dutch family-run business, which specialises in fibre-reinforced profiles made from carbon, glass fibre and natural fibre, is taking a significant step towards its growth ambitions with the new 3,700 m² facility.

From Dronten to Kampen: space for the future

Prince Fibre has been active in the development and production of composite profiles since 1997. The company was based in Dronten until the end of 2025 and moved to Kampen to enable further growth. The new site, built by Groothuis Bouwgroep, comprises a modern production hall, a spacious warehouse and professional office spaces. The expansion enables Prince Fibre to respond more quickly, produce larger batches and deliver more bespoke solutions to customers worldwide.

Lighter, stronger, more sustainable

Prince Fibre produces composite profiles that outperform traditional materials such as steel, aluminium and wood in terms of weight, strength and lifespan. Through pultrusion — a continuous, automated production process — fibres are combined with high-quality resins to form profiles that can be up to 10 times stronger than steel for the same weight. The profiles are used in a wide range of sectors: from robotic arms for the food industry and sills for the construction sector to trolleys for grass-growing lamps for professional sports pitches and tripods for industrial metrology.

Royal visit

Following the plenary programme and the opening ceremony, King Willem-Alexander was given an extensive tour of the new factory hall. The King walked through the entire production process: from the raw materials – carbon fibre, glass fibre and natural fibre – to the end product. At the pultrusion line, he spoke with staff who were currently processing all three types of fibre, and was given an explanation of how fibres and resin are combined to form strong, lightweight profiles. The visit concluded with a discussion with founder Rinus Prins and the next generations working in the family business.

Family business with international ambition

Prince Fibre is part of the Groothuis Group of companies based in Genemuiden. The company is led by shareholders and directors Wim Groothuis and Gerard de Weerd, who combine entrepreneurship with technological innovation. All profiles are developed and produced entirely in-house and are distributed throughout Europe. The family business also collaborates with Windesheim University of Applied Sciences to offer opportunities to the next generation within the group of companies.

With the opening of the new hall in Kampen, Prince Fibre is looking ahead to further growth in both the Dutch and international markets, with an increasing focus on sustainable biocomposite solutions based on natural fibres.
