PALFINGER MARINE wins contract for delivery of 66 PSM 400 cranes to Merkur Offshore wind farm
(WK-intern) – With a project capacity of 396 MW and a turbine capacity of 6 MW, Merkur Offshore is one of the biggest German wind farms.
It is located 45 km from Borkum in the North Sea and is being built and operated by Merkur Offshore GmbH.
The turbines will be supplied by GE Renewable Energy (Alstom) and installed by DEME. The build-up will be finalised in 2019. As one of the largest wind farms, Merkur Offshore will supply renewable power to more than 500,000 households.
For these wind turbines, PALFINGER MARINE has signed a contract for 66 PSM 400 stiff boom cranes with Alstom Wind France SAS.
Combining technical product expertise and the world’s largest renewable energy source, the wind, this major contract marks a huge success in the story of PALFINGER MARINE’s Wind Crane department. The electro-hydraulic stiff boom cranes are DNV GL approved and fitted with the latest and most innovative safety devices. The radio remote control gives the operator full control from all positions when operating the crane. Proven technology, a maintenance-friendly and robust design and high-quality workmanship: The PSM crane series satisfies all these requirements in the wind business.
Rupert Reischl, Senior Sales Manager of PALFINGER MARINE is proud of winning this large order: “All the energy and effort we have invested for more than thirteen years into this very interesting and challenging offshore wind business has again led to a large-scale order and increases our momentum even further. We are confident that other potential customers in the wind industry will also see the advantages of our products and of having PALFINGER MARINE as a strong partner.”
All cranes will be finally handed over and mounted by September 2017.
