DCNS Announces Gold Sponsorship of Ocean Energy Europe 2016

DCNS will be a Gold Sponsor of Ocean Energy Europe 2016 – the annual conference of Europe’s renewable ocean energy sector, taking place in Brussels on 8-9 November 2016.  The event will cap off a landmark year of activities for the naval defence group, as it deploys industry leading projects in France and Canada.

DCNS has emerged as a major player in the ocean energy sector in recent years by exploiting major synergies with its core naval defence sector. The Group’s know-how, its industrial resources and expertise allow DCNS to play a leading role over the entire production cycle for these new systems, from design and construction to maintenance. This development forms part of the Group’s strategy for growth: DCNS aims to achieve by 2025 25% of its turnover in the energy sector.

Today, DCNS is a global leader in tidal energy and ocean thermal energy, and is involved in developing some of the largest projects in the world in these technologies.

The Ocean Energy Europe Conference & Exhibition has grown to be the world’s leading annual event on ocean energy. Taking place in a different EU capital each year, the 2016 edition will be held in the heart of European policy making: Brussels. The event regularly features an array of leading ministers and decision makers alongside CEOs and VPs from leading industry players.

Thierry Kalanquin, DCNS Energy and Marine Infrastructure Director said: “2016 is a landmark year for DCNS in terms of tidal energy deployments and we are very happy to celebrate this by sponsoring the Ocean Energy Europe 2016 Conference & Exhibition. With industry-leading deployments in Brittany and the Bay of Fundy, DCNS is committed to playing its part in building a mainstream ocean energy industry.”

Regarding this announcement, Rémi Gruet, CEO of Ocean Energy Europe said: “We are very pleased that DCNS has taken a leading role in supporting the development of the sector by sponsoring OEE2016. Having clearly positioned themselves as a front-runner in the ocean energy sector, DCNS’ maritime expertise and manufacturing experience is certain to play a crucial role in the commercialisation of the sector over the coming decade.”
