Certification confirms that wind turbine component is designed, documented and manufactured in accordance with design assumptions, applicable standards and technical requirements for safety, function and quality
(WK-intern) – Component certification of the DFM 3000 statorless water cooled Ingecon® Wind converter accelerates the certification process of new wind turbine designs that use this component
DNV GL, the world’s largest resource of independent energy experts and certification body, awarded component certification to Spanish technology company Ingeteam for its new frequency converter at the annual European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) Conference in Paris.
The DFM 3000 Ingecon® Wind converter offers operational flexibility, energy management benefits and compliance with technical regulations. The Ingeteam converter can be integrated in on- and offshore wind turbines up to 3.5 MW.
This is the first component certificate to be awarded by DNV GL according to its own globally applicable standard for electrical installations in wind turbines. It combines all the requirements of the previous GL and IEC guidelines in a compact, clear and concisely worded way. With this certification, Ingeteam has confirmation that its frequency converter meets all applicable guidelines for on- and offshore use. DNV GL examined the converter in all aspects of development, documentation and manufacture to ensure safety, functioning and quality. This component certification makes it easier and quicker for wind turbine manufacturers to use the converter in their designs, because only documentation of the proper adaptation and integration of the component is needed for type certification. Certification of its DFM 3000 Ingecon® Wind converter underlines Ingeteam’s technical expertise as a manufacturer of efficient and reliable frequency converters, and positions it as a trustworthy supplier of components for wind turbines.
