Natural Power achieve first UK greenfield onshore wind consent for BayWa r.e.

Natural Power achieve first UK greenfield onshore wind consent for leading turn-key developer and operator BayWa r.e.

(WK-intern) – Leading international renewable energy consultancy group Natural Power has achieved planning consent for BayWa r.e.’s first “greenfield” wind farm consent in the UK. The consented scheme comprises a single additional Enercon E 70 turbine that will bring the installed capacity of the under-construction Stroupster wind farm in Caithness to 29.9MW.

Full Planning and Environmental advice was provided by Natural Power in relation to the extension scheme, with specific services including:

  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment
  • Sustainability & Design
  • Ecology and hydrology impact
  • Transport assessments
  • Community consultation

BayWa r.e renewable energy GmbH (BayWa r.e.) is a global renewable energy company that was established in 2009 and now has more than 740 staff operating globally. The BayWa r.e. group spans development and related services in the renewable energy sector. BayWa r.e. also develops and implements renewable energy projects in the UK and appointed Natural Power to spearhead their first greenfield planning consent in the UK.

Natural Power is providing construction management services to BayWa r.e. in relation to the Stroupster Wind Farm and the site is due to be operational in 2015.
