Great Yarmouth, UK – Seajacks will soon be adding Meerwind Offshore Wind Park, a 288MW wind farm development located in the Exclusive Economic Zone region of the German North Sea, to an impressive tally of successful offshore wind farm installation projects.
Seajacks vessels and crews are working their way through the remaining turbines, with Zaratan installing five and Leviathan two sets of turbine components in each cycle. On completion of the 80th turbine, which is currently expected to occur in February 2014, Seajacks will have installed 310 turbines Siemens 3.6MW turbines since 2010.
(WK-intern) – Blair Ainslie, CEO at Seajacks UK, said “I am very proud of what has been achieved at Meerwind on this pioneering project for Seajacks and WindMW. It should serve as a positive blueprint for future projects and demonstrates how costs can be reduced and delays minimised when an experienced contractor and the right equipment is selected to execute this work. Our success on this project stems right back to the on-time delivery of newbuild vessel Seajacks Zaratan, which enabled us to mobilize to Cuxhaven ready to install the first monopiles as per original schedule in October 2013. We made good progress during the winter months and now, just 12 months on, all foundations are now in place and all 80 turbines will soon be erected.”
